GIGATONS

OPS is collaborating with GIGATONS and Grimshaw Architects to develop a suite of EV and EHGV charging infrastructure through sustainable, modular design.

GIGATONS is a new global platform for the transition to net-zero, founded by the creators of GRIDSERVE, one of the UK's leading energy and EV charging company’s. OPS have been working closely with the design team in preparation for the company's launch, contributing to the development of the new charging infrastructure shelters.

Our designs feature expressive structural tree canopies made from a hybrid of steel and glulam timber, with both materials working to their strengths to form an optimised solution. These canopies provide shelter for the charging bays, utilising integrated PV panels as the roof cladding.

The designs are based on a configurable kit of parts, enabling them to be adapted to suit the location and climate of charging centres worldwide.
