Garth Olwg Community Campus

The Garth Olwg Community Campus comprises of a nursery, primary and secondary school originally constructed in 2007. OPS were appointed by the contractor to provide expert advice on the construction of the roof cladding and support structure. In this phase of the project OPS undertook numerous non-intrusive and intrusive inspections of the structure and provided the contractor with detailed appraisal of any deviation from the design in the construction. This enabled the contractor to develop a scope of works with the building owner, to ensure the design and construction is safe.

OPS were asked to carry out further work, advising the contractor on possible remedial measures where the original design and/or the construction did not meet the design requirements. This required OPS to undertake more detail assessment of the existing structure to ensure any remediation can be installed safely. This was developed through close collaboration with the contractor and the building owners representatives to ensure the remedial proposals were practical and possible to install within the existing structure. OPS also performance specified the new roof cladding systems, standing seam and single ply membranes, and assisted the contractor in review and inspection of the re-cladding works on site.
