Kinaxixi

The Kinaxixi development complex comprises of three towers and a large podium structure that links the three towers. Mike Stephens and Simon Ho were responsible for the design of the third tower, which is a mixed use tower standing 150m tall, including a 4-storey basement.

The whole building will be constructed primarily from insitu concrete, with steelwork as required to support plant work, cladding and some long span roof areas. One of the main structural design challenges was overcoming the very weak ground at site. Despite providing piles, the structure settles significantly, resulting in high stress concentrations in the primary cores.

The towers’ multi-function usage, requires the structure to be smartly designed and set out to ensure all the architectural and MEPVF requirements are met for all different functions. The MEP, Vertical Transport and Fire design had to be carefully coordinated through the structure to ensure they are all compatible with each other.
